Art Galleries in Victoria
Victoria has always attracted artists from right across Canada, not only to live but to display and sell their offerings. The fine art market is well represented in Victoria, the following are a few galleries worth checking on your next visit.
The West End Gallery displays the works of over 40 painters as well as hosting the Annual Canadian Glass Show each summer. A must for all gallery goers, they offer a wide selection of all styles and aesthetics.
Close by, the Madrona Gallery is the latest addition to the Victoria art scene, the gallery exhibits both emerging and internationally recognized artists from across Canada as well as a wonderful collection of contemporary and historic Inuit art.
A little off the beaten track is The Morris Gallery, Victoria's largest gallery with space equivalent to five or six downtown galleries, you will find multiple works by local artists always on display. Morris Gallery is only five minutes from downtown by car or a pleasant 25 minute stroll along the Galloping Goose Trail.
For a great art adventure take the time to explore the Western Communities. Your first stop should be The Coast Collective Art Centre located within the same building as the new Holiday Inn Express, you'll find the amazing work of over 100 local artists.
Then make the short trip to The Metchosin Arts & Cultural Centre located in the heart of Metchosin. Housed in an old Elementary School you’ll find the Metchosin Arts & Cultural Centre, the West Shore Arts Council office, and the working studios of local artists-printmaker, painters, sculptors and much more.
